The Rays seal the comeback against the Mariners with a golden HR from Yandy Diaz

street. PETERSBURG, FL, USA – Yandy Diaz hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Seattle Mariners 7-5 on Saturday.

With two outs, Taylor Walls succeeded in passing the ball from Tyler Saucedo (3-2), before Cuban Diaz fired his goal into right field.

Diaz also had an RBI double with a bunt during a two-run seventh inning, and Tampa Bay took a 5-4 lead.

The Rays have a seven-and-a-half-game lead over Seattle and Toronto in the race for the first wild-card spot in the American League playoffs. Tampa Bay started the day four games behind Baltimore, the leader of the Eastern Conference, while Seattle is half a game behind Houston, the leader of the West.

Colin Bucci (11-3) finished off a perfect ninth inning to earn the victory.

Dominican Julio Rodriguez hit his 29th home run of the season, the highest of his career. He is one away from joining Alex Rodriguez as the only Mariners to have 30 home runs and 30 steals in the same season.

For the Mariners, Dominican Rodriguez is 4-2 with two runs scored and one RBI, Teoscar Hernandez is 3-0 with one run scored. Venezuelan Eugenio Suarez 3-0 with one goal. Panamanian Jose Caballero 1-0.

For the Rays, Cuban Diaz was 2-for-2 with one run scored and three RBIs. Mexicans Randy Arozarena 3-0 with one goal, Isaac Paredes 1-1, Jonathan Aranda 4-2 with two goals. Colombian Harold Ramirez 1-0. Venezuelans Oslaves Basabe 1-0, Rene Pinto 4-0. Dominican Jose Seri 4-0.
