What is Amazon Echo?
Some ignorant people may have arrived at this article without knowing much about what these devices are, or if they all had the same lights indicating certain details about the device.
Without going into too much detail or functionality, the Amazon Echo is the company’s smart speakers. Thanks to the inclusion of the smart assistant AlexaTherefore, we may require various procedures to provide us with certain information or to work directly with equipment such as smart lights, smart TV and many other devices.
inside of Amazon Echo Family We can find several types of products:
- Amazon Echo Dot
- Amazon Echo
- Amazon Echo Plus
- Amazon Eco Show
- Amazon Eco Spot
- Amazon Eco Flex
- Amazon Echo Auto: which allows us to provide the capabilities of the company’s smart speaker for our car.
- Amazon Fire TV Cube: This device, although truly designed as Fire TV, includes all the capabilities of Amazon Smart Speaker.
If you want to know any of these devices in more depth, you can take a look at the videos we devote to them on our YouTube channel. What it means to live with the ecosystem at home, or to analyze some of them:
Like we said, this is the entire Echo family. Each of them has several models in its catalog and is intended for a different type of use or user. But the common denominator between them all, which is what we’re concerned about in this article, is that they have an LED that shines in different ways depending on what you want us to know.
What does the yellow / green / red light mean on an Amazon Echo?
Having said all of the above, let’s go to the really interesting thing about this article, what do those colorful lights we see on Amazon smart speakers mean?
As you can imagine, these LED lights are messages that our loudspeaker throws at us before any information is sent to us. So let’s go color by color to get it right
Yellow Light on Amazon Echo
If we see that our speakers are showing a slowly blinking yellow bar every few seconds, that means Alexa has a message or notification pending to let us know. This signal will appear, for example, when the package we ordered from Amazon arrives that day.
So, if you want to delete it, just say something like “Alexa, read my pending notifications” or “Alexa, what messages do I have?”
Red Light on Amazon Echo
In the case of the red tape, which can be more striking or inspire a problem, it is something very different from this. If we see that our device’s LED is this color, that means the microphone is muted, so Alexa won’t be able to hear us. If you have a device with a camera, that also means that the video will not transfer as well.
To solve this problem is as simple as pressing again the mute button on the speaker. This is on the body of the device and is in a circle with a line that crosses it.
Cyan / Blue Light on Amazon Echo
Some presentations will need this light, because if we used Echo today, we’d get tired of seeing it. What you may not know, however, is that she has two “positions” that mean different things.
For example, a flash of a bright blue light followed by a dark blue one happens when Alexa listens to us. We’ll see this whenever we call it in the command we’ve just created. At the end of the request and its subsequent response, it will disappear.
However, there is a wider range of celestial color steadily drifting than the navy blue ranch we’ll see when the team starts. If this is the first time we’re doing this and you need to configure, the orange light will follow after this animation.
Orange Light on Amazon Echo
simple. The speaker is on set up and ready to link to your Amazon account. You just have to connect it to the internet and follow the steps provided by the Alexa app for this light to disappear.
Green light on Amazon Echo
If a flashing green light suddenly appears on our speaker, we will find out what it is in a few seconds. This indicates that an incoming call is on our device. However, if the call is in progress, this green light will scroll instead of flashing.
The LED will turn off when the call ends.
Purple Light on Amazon Echo
In case you don’t know, these Amazon smartphones have a do not disturb mode, which can be accessed by simply saying the command “Alexa, activate do not disturb mode”. In other words, the moment you execute this command, no other notification will be able to access your computer to avoid sounds or distractions.
When activated, we can see a slowly blinking purple light on the computer. And if we wanted to remove this mode, it would be as simple as asking the assistant.
White Light on Amazon Echo
Finally, we can also have a white LED flashlight on Echo. Although it quickly detects its use. When we turn the speaker volume up or down, this LED will appear occupying a larger or smaller portion of the range in the device.
These are all the LED codes we can see in our Amazon speaker, plus how to ‘remove’ them. We hope we helped you discover what Alexa wanted to convey to you and that you don’t think about what that might mean.
