(CNN) — A trailer for “Grand Theft Auto VI,” the next installment in the popular, violent video game series, was released online Tuesday after it was leaked online. The trailer reveals that Chapter 6 will arrive in 2025, according to developer Rockstar Games.
The trailer features the protagonist, Lucia, who appears to be going on a crime spree through crowded beaches, city highways and clubs with her partner in a Bonnie and Clyde scenario.
The long-awaited trailer surpassed 32 million views in its first hours Youtube.
The trailer was originally supposed to be released on Tuesday, December 5 at 9 AM PT, 12 PM Miami time. but, In a post on X“Our trailer has been leaked, so check out the real content on YouTube,” Rockstar Games, formerly known as Twitter, said.
GTA 6, the next chapter in the action-adventure series, has been a long time coming. GTA 5 was released in 2013.
Rockstar Games, which is owned by Take-Two Interactive, has had problems with leaks. In 2022, hackers leaked unreleased images for their next version of GTA. The gaming community has been shaken by the appearance of screenshots and videos of the game online, which the company has confirmed are real and were leaked as a result of a “network intrusion.”
“We recently experienced a network intrusion where an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded sensitive information from our systems, including early development images for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game,” Rockstar Games announced at the time in a statement posted on the site.
