Néstor Reverol, Minister of People’s Energy for Electric Power of Venezuela, announced on Tuesday, November 28, at a meeting held at Los Condores Palace, that during the first months of 2024, a new phase of load management will begin in the entity, given the works that will be carried out in order to stabilize National electrical system.
The meeting was attended by Manuel Rosales, Governor of the State of Zulia, Rafael Ramirez, Mayor of Maracaibo, Iraida Villasmil, President of CLEZ, Gustavo Fernandez, Mayor of San Francisco, Judit Ular de Duran, Dean of Zulia University, and Alexis. Balza, President of Fedecámaras Zulia and Ezio Angelini, Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the “Grand Humanitarian Agreement to Solve the Electricity Crisis in Zulia”.
During the meeting, Riverol indicated that the second phase of the Clean Slate plan will begin soon, which will be implemented by installing residential meters.
He also highlighted that the Andean Development Foundation (CAF) will provide its support to start the work to restore the national electrical system, as well as the cable under the lake that provides electricity to a large part of the region.
On the other hand, it was reported that the state of Zulia consumed 17% of the national demand, according to the director of the electric energy portfolio, during the month of January, when consumption reached 1,900 megawatts per day, and after 11 months it became 2,254 megawatts. . “Because of situations like this, we cannot expect stable, reliable and safe power delivery,” he said.
For his part, Manuel Rosales, Governor of Zulia State, indicated that the contribution of resources through CAF would be the result of the Barbados Agreements, so he expressed his hope for the resumption of negotiations.
Rosales stressed, “First, we must search for a political solution, and hold elections in 2024, in order to make progress in the economic and social problems facing Venezuela.”
