Sureste Hospital renews the quality certificate granted by the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine Service (MIR) of the Hospital Universitario del Sureste, located in Arganda del Rey, has been recognized with the renewal of its excellent SEMI accreditation granted by the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI).

This is a quality certificate that can be reviewed every five years and is awarded to internal medicine units (UMI) that meet established quality standards in the care of patients received in consultations or on the ward during admission to the IRM service to reduce mortality and avoidable readmissions to hospital, as well as Inappropriate attendance of emergency services, with effective use of available resources in the National Health System (SNS).

This accreditation enables integration, provides coherence and completion of many quality improvement activities and programs promoted by SEMI.

Furthermore, an attempt is being made to align both internists and other professionals associated with care in ICUs (eg, primary care and other medical and surgical specialties), general and regional administrations, and health managers in this quality improvement.

The MIR service at Sureste University Hospital received its first accreditation in 2018.

This quality certification ceremony was attended by doctors Juana Carretero, President of SEMI; Desiree Velez and Teresa Fernández Amago, Head of Service and Acting Head of Department, respectively, of the Internal Medicine Service of the Hospital Universitario del Sureste; and Maria Montserrat Cimino, Senior Vice President of SEMI.
