The launch of the 5G mobile service was announced by Rogelio Viesca, President of Claro and Carlos Cuito, the recently appointed General Manager and CEO of the company, during a visit to President Luis Abenader.
Company executives presented the president with technical details of the scope and coverage of the service, as well as the expansion plan that will be implemented in the coming months.
“With this infrastructure already available in the National District, we are ushering in a new era of digital transformation in the country and enabling 5G mobile connectivity, which will allow the realization of the current 2030 digital government agenda, by serving as a digital society development platform that promotes creativity and innovation, improving Dominican quality of life,” Viesca noted.
Carlos Cuito highlighted that plans and equipment that will allow customers to enjoy Claro’s 5G coverage in this first phase of deployment are already available, which he hopes will be deployed quickly in the greater Santo Domingo area, Santiago, La Romana.
President Luis Abenader expressed his satisfaction with the application of this technology.
“We reaffirm our satisfaction to continue to rely on Claro Dominicana as an ally and strategic partner of this department, by supporting us with its infrastructure and institutional projects, in four of the axes outlined in our Digital Agenda 2030, which also include connectivity and access, education, digital skills, cybersecurity and the promotion of a culture of innovation” The president confirmed.
The event was attended by Nelson Arroyo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL).
