New York. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommended on Saturday to stop using a Peloton-branded treadmill “immediately” as it poses a risk to children after dozens of reports of accidents and the death of a minor.

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency received 39 reports of treadmill-related accidents, as well as the death of a child.
Young children are at risk of being caught between the rotating belt and the ground, and this could cause serious injuries or even death, the agency said.

The consumer notice comes after Peloton itself announced a few weeks ago that a child had died from an accident with the Peloton Tread +.
“The CPSC believes that the Peloton Tread + poses a grave risk of wear and tear or death to babies. In light of multiple reports of children trapped and pulled under the tape at the back, the CPSC is urging consumers with children in the home to stop using it immediately.
Peloton, which has tripled its stock market price in the past year, has nearly become a religion for its members who follow a virtual routine with a big screen and whose use has become popular during the pandemic.
