Armando ArchundiaThe head of the aforementioned authority issued a press statement today, Monday, in which he revealed this decision after a bulletin that spread on social media.
The first statement noted that no member of Mexico’s arbitration federation could “show any kind of favoritism to a particular football team.”
The official statement issued by the Referees Committee, written by President Armando Archundía, details the following:
“Today it was discovered that four external consultants who evaluate the work of our third professional division referees posted messages on their social networks expressing their support for America after winning the title last Sunday. These positions are not consistent with professional principles.” This committee operates with impartiality, which is why we have decided to end our professional relationship with them.
“With the intention of preventing these actions from occurring again, two Referee Instruction Area Coordinators issued a statement, without my authorization or that of any other member of this committee, in a fabricated document (with the National Team and Mexican Team letterhead) ‘FIFA), which was sent via Non-institutional channels (WhatsApp), but in the name of the Authority.
“After an internal analysis, we determined this action as a serious offense because the coordinators assumed powers that were inconsistent with them and questioned the professionalism of our organization as a result of faulty communication. For this reason it was also decided to terminate the business relationship with them.”
Thus four external advisors and two coordinators who were part of the refereeing committee lost their jobs.
