Pitana will be excluded from the list of international referees for CONMEBOL – international football – sports

“I don’t understand, Federico. (Patricio) Lustau and (Mauro) Vigliano are 46, like me, and they will continue to direct at international level,” they assured Pitana, who also officiated the 2018 World Cup final in Russia.

Vigliano will now be responsible for the video assistant referee only, while Lustau will remain a field judge.

Despite the AFC’s decision not to keep Pitana at international level, CONMEBOL and FIFA still trust the Argentine judge, as he continues to top the list of the federation, which depends on the physical and technical condition, and the skills being tested in the Argentine league. To replace Pitana, the AFC appointed Pablo Echavarria, 39. Along with Vigliano on the field, 32-year-old young referee Yael Falcon Perez will enter to represent Argentina.

Clarin concludes by saying that there is a history of referees not appointed by their countries but with international action: Pericles Basul Cortez, of Brazil, who was in the VAR for the game between Junior of Barranquilla and Libertad of Paraguay, although not registered by the CBF.
