Nicaraguan gastronomy is establishing itself in Miami with a new restaurant, La Casa Nicaragua, where Leon’s family came to the United States in 1989. “I worked in a Nicaraguan place since I came to this country, that was my dream. Start a business. I have other types of businesses, but this is the one I wanted,” explains restaurant owner Onelia Alvarez.
Although she was initially involved in a concrete company with her husband, this did not forget her desire to found her own Nicaraguan dining room. He was able to invest in his restaurant only with his own resources.
Alvarez firmly believes that success in the United States is not easy, but it is worth following the path towards your goals. “I want all the Nicaraguans who came here to do so with a purpose and for them to really progress because they can do it by fighting hard,” he commented.
Nicaraguan menu
The flavoring of Nicaraguan food is what sets La Casa Nicaragua apart from other similar businesses, explains its owner, who has always been in charge of the business. “I’ve always had a passion for food and the chef we have is outstanding. People come here and say that even though it’s a restaurant, it’s really homemade food from Nicaragua,” he explains.
The menu offered includes traditional tacos, enchiladas, carne asada, vicorón, churrasco, roast pork and refreshing 100% Nicaraguan drinks.
Casa Nicaragua was launched in March 2024 and currently employs six people, including Nicaraguan comrades. The restaurant is located at 365 N Royal Poinciana Blvd, Miami Springs, FL 33166.
