His first goal was to visit North Korea, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the bureaucratic procedures for entering Afghanistan were simpler, argued the student, who was also fascinated by the country’s “beauty, gastronomy, and cheap prices.”

Routledge had not been in contact with anyone in his family since he was 14, he came to wander the streets of Birmingham and work in a bank to pay for his studies, support himself financially, and be able to take his odd trips, according to himself.
